Why Should I Become An ADAA Member?

What Are Membership Dues?
Members pay $105 per year for national dues, which includes a payment for professional liability insurance, plus state dues listed in a table which appears on the Member Benefits page of this website. Student members pay $25 per year and may opt to pay an additional $10 for professional liability insurance.

How Do I Become A Life Member?
Any member with 25 years of continuous membership not counting years as a student member may apply for Life Membership. Contact Doug McDonough (ext. 203) for a membership form or download one from the website.

My membership expired, how do I get a new card?
If you have received a dues renewal invoice and paid it, you should automatically receive your up-to-date card. If this is not the case, please call Isabel Guillen and request an invoice or an adjusted card.

I never received a renewal notice, what do I do?
If you did not receive an invoice, if you notice your card expiration date is incorrect, please contact Isabel Guillen (312.541.1550, ext 213); contact Isabel regarding membership concerns, if Isabel is unable to help you, contact Nancy.

If I am a DANB certificant, am I also a member of ADAA?
No, ADAA membership is separate.

Where Can I Get More Information About How The ADAA Started?
In 1923, a small group of dedicated women met to explore the possibility of forming a national dental assisting association. Led by Juliette Southard, a NY dental assistant, the basis for the ADAA was formed at an ADA meeting in Cleveland in 1923. In 1924, a Constitution and Bylaws were presented and approved and the ADAA was on its way almost 40 years after Dr. Kells of New Orleans hired the first Lady in Attendance.
